Lara and the Beat is a Biola Alabi Media production. It is basically a story about how two sisters lose their wealth and have to struggle, adapt and learn to survive on their own. It casts a lot of prominent actors like Iyamah-Idhalam Somkele, Akoptha Chioma, Uche Jombo, Wale Ojo, Chinedu Ikedezie, Saidi Balogun, Shaffy Bello and many more.
According to Biola Alabi, ‘Lara and the Beat’ is inspired by some of the stories she grew up hearing in Nigeria. It is a story about two sisters who lose their family fortune and have to find a way to not only live but also thrive. The film, to her, is about every Nigerian and their ability to persevere and find a way in the face of any obstacle.
Seyi Shay, a prominent Nigerian-based singer and songwriter plays a lead role as Lara; one of the sisters. It is her first attempt at acting and her debuting with Biola Alabi media on this movie seems like an intricate move, especially with the mix of music. Seyi wrote and produced three songs for the soundtrack to Konami’s video game.
Vector, the ‘Lafiaji’ rapper also plays an intricate role although this is not his first time acting. His acting debut was in the Nollywood move ‘June’.
The movie incorporates a good doze of acting, music and fashion. An array of the different Nigerian men and their fashion sense makes for a fine spectacle. DJ Exclusive as Jide stands for the col kids, Vector acting as Sal represents the biker dude, Deyemi Okanlawon; Cashflow is the popular ‘Yoruba Demon’ and Ademola Adedoyin as Wale Ladejobi reps the ‘Men in Suits’.
This movie promises to be as amazing as the preparation put into it.
