In a future America, a pandemic has killed 98% of children under the age of twenty. The pandemic is called IAAN and the few children that survive mysteriously develop amazing psychic powers. A child detected to have strange powers is considered a threat by the government and detained. Ruby Daly had been sent to a government ‘rehabilitation camp’, Thurmond, when she was ten and woke to discover she had some powers.
Five years later, Ruby is one of the most powerful teenagers anyone has ever encountered, classified as an ‘Orange’ and she barely escapes the brutal Thurmond with the help of an anti-government doctor, when the truth about her strength comes out. Ruby is desperate to find the only safe-haven left for kids like her in East River and eventually stumbles upon a group of similar kids who have escaped their own camp led by the rugged Liam. Soon this newfound family realizes that, in a world in which the adults in power have betrayed them, running is not enough and they must wage a resistance, using their collective power to take back control of their future.
