Asimple favor is a triumphant tale of how a stay at home mom’s vlog goes super viral. The movie is based on a novel by Darcey Bell titled, ‘A Simple Favor’. It is directed by Paul Feig.

The film’s two main characters exist on opposite ends of the parenting spectrum. Stephanie (Anna Kendrick) is a lonely widow in cat-printed Target socks who can quote The Canterbury Tales on cue. To fill her free time, she pours her life into out-volunteering the other parents at her son’s school and filming YouTube tutorials on how to get kids to eat their vegetables. Emily (Blake Lively) is a fashion PR executive whose main pastime is drinking martinis. She has a questionable wrist tattoo. She’s bored by childcare and blames her hot but unproductive novelist husband (Henry Golding) for their financial troubles.

Lively plays Emily with all the air of a Disney villain with Stephanie always eager to please her. One day, Emily calls and asks if Stephanie can pick up Nicky afterschool because her husband, Sean (Henry Golding, Crazy Rich Asians), is visiting his ailing mother in London. After two days, and several attempts to track her down, it’s clear that Emily has disappeared. The disappearance causes Stephanie’s vlog to go viral as viewers got curious. In the days that follow, Stephanie begins to investigate the disappearance, using tips from viewers of her vlog, and she gradually uncovers details about the mysterious past of this woman she thought she knew well.
