Coming to Africa

Synopsis

For the first time since her divorce, Akosua (Nana Ama McBrown), a Ghanaian schoolteacher, is in love again and preparing to fulfill her lifelong dream of moving to the U.S. with her new American boyfriend, Adrian (Anwar Jamison). However, when her students find out that she is leaving them, they don’t take the news well and cause her to second-guess her plan. To make matters worse, she suspects that Adrian might be reverting to his playboy ways. Meanwhile, Adrian ponders ways to mend fences with Akosua’s father Monte (David Dontoh), who was not at all impressed with him during their initial meeting.

Adrian’s brother Buck (Khalil Kain) is hard at work building up his new community co-op in their hometown back in the U.S. and sees a trip to Ghana as a way to jumpstart the process and find products for the store at more reasonable prices. Upon his arrival, he meets Akosua’s sister Nana (Nikki Samonas) and mixes pleasure with business, while unseen danger threatens to derail his plan.

With no son to train as his successor, Monte is grooming his other daughter, Yaa (Nadia Buari), as the heir to his business empire. With his extravagant 70^th birthday party as the backdrop, Yaa comes up with a plan that might just solve all of their problems.
