‘CRIME 101’ one heist connects them all…
Crime 101 is a 2026 crime thriller film written and directed by Bart Layton, based on the 2020 novella of the same name by Don Winslow. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Monica Barbaro, Corey Hawkins, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, and Halle Berry.
In Los Angeles, Mike Davis is an elusive and disciplined jewel thief, carefully planning robberies to avoid violence and DNA evidence while escaping via U.S. Route 101. Intercepting a diamond delivery carrying decoys, he steals $3 million in genuine diamonds, but is shaken after being grazed by an unexpected bullet. He calls off a planned robbery in Santa Barbara, but his fence, Money, enlists volatile young biker Ormon instead.

The film is developed by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Raw, Working Title Films, and The Story Factory and directed by Bart Layton. Layton adapted the Don Winslow novella with contributions from Peter Straughan. Producers include Eric Fellner, Tim Bevan, Dimitri Doganis, Derrin Schlesinger, Shane Salerno and Layton. Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth and Barry Keoghan star, with Hemsworth also producing alongside Ben Grayson. Amazon won a bidding war for the rights to the novella in 2023, beating out Netflix with Pedro Pascal originally in talks to star alongside Hemsworth before dropping out due to scheduling conflicts with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. In May 2024, Mark Ruffalo joined the cast as Lou Lubesnick. In October, Halle Berry, Corey Hawkins and Monica Barbaro joined the cast in undisclosed roles. In November, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Nick Nolte, Tate Donovan, Babak Tafti, Payman Maadi, Deborah Hedwall, Devon Bostick, Paul Adelstein, Drew Powell, and Matthew Del Negro rounded out the cast.

Crime 101 premiered on January 28, 2026, in London and was released in the United States on February 13, 2026, after initially being set for 2025.
